Governor's 10 percent Water Use Reduction Requirement

Citizens and industries in the 61 north Georgia counties under a level four drought response have been asked to conserve water to help their local governments and water utilities meet Governor Perdue’s directive to reduce water use by 10 percent.  The Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD) has notified permit holders with groundwater withdrawal permits, surface water withdrawal permits and drinking water system permits that permits were modified effective November 1, 2007 to require the 10 percent reduction in water use.
